The Hongqi HQE Review Vehicle is a CA12GV V12 engine developed by FAW Technology Center. FAW Technology Center is responsible for the research and development of FAW commercial vehicles and passenger car engines, and its research and development capabilities are at the leading domestic level. The development of the V12 engine on the one hand lays the foundation for the development of the HQE inspection vehicle for Hongqi, and the accumulated experience for independent development fills the gap in the domestic high-end passenger car engine; on the other hand, the V12 engine will also lay the foundation for the development of the V6 and V8 engines. Taking the opportunity as an opportunity to vigorously promote the company's internal innovation.

In February 2007, FAW Group began the preliminary planning and market research of the project. In October 2007, in just a few months, the technical center completed the planning, conceptual design, engineering design, and prototype production of the engine. On February 22, 2008, China's first self-developed V12 engine was successfully ignited at the FAW Technology Center, marking China's preliminary mastery of high-end passenger car engine technology. Its successful ignition is a milestone in the development of passenger car engines in China and an important symbol for the establishment of the FAW V-engine product platform. The CA12GV is a 6.0-liter displacement V12 all-aluminum engine with a rated power of 300 kilowatts and a maximum torque of 550 nano- meters, both of which meet the engine's performance level. According to FAW's plan, the V12 engine will also be equipped with HQE production models. In the future, V8 and V6 engines developed on this basis will be equipped with the new generation of C-Class and B-Class red flag vehicles.

FAW CA12GV engine has seven technical characteristics

1. Advanced Combustion System: The combustion system can meet the requirement of airway injection and gasoline direct injection in the cylinder at the same time, which lays a foundation for direct upgrade to gasoline direct injection engine in the future.

2. Main and auxiliary ECU (engine control unit) joint working technology: Using CAN (Controller Area Network) bus technology to make the two ECUs work together to achieve accurate control of engine performance, emissions, and vehicle-related systems.

3, Dual VCT (variable cam timing): Through the precise optimization of the valve timing, the best fuel economy, power and emissions performance.

4, three-layer silent chain drive: using a silent chain structure with the engine life, to achieve the best timing system NVH performance.

5, All-aluminum lightweight design: All aluminum cylinder, cylinder head, shell parts and brackets, through the FE analysis of the topology to achieve the best balance of lightweight and NVH performance.

6, advanced NVH (vibration, noise and comfort) structural design: full benchmarking, combined with empirical design and modal calculation, the key to the cylinder, cylinder head, crankshaft, valve cover, timing cover, oil pan and other key The parts are designed specifically for noise, and the whole modal calculation of the powertrain determines the suspension design of the vibration node to ensure the noise performance of the vehicle.
