Fujian Dongshan fishermen “capture” large batches of fake RMB in the sea

Fishermen in Dongshan County, Fujian Province have had a lot of harvest since they started fishing in August. In addition to a large number of fish and cargo, they also “captured” several batches of fake RMB several million.

According to the Economic Investigation Team of the Dongshan County Public Security Bureau, at 4 o'clock on the morning of August 6th, the fishing boat No. 4966 of Fudongyu, Gongqian Village, Chencheng Township, Dongshan County, performed a trawl operation at 118 degrees 30 minutes east longitude and 23 degrees 30 minutes north latitude. Two suspected Chinese fake renminbi (RMB) numbered FG262668** were collected in 2005.

After receiving the alarm at 12 o'clock noon, the Dongshan County Public Security Bureau Economic Investigation Brigade and the Chencheng Frontier Police Station quickly went out to the police and rushed to the homeowner Wu Mouxiang to collect the suspected counterfeit money and organized the bank staff to conduct detailed identification and inventory.

After nearly ten hours of intensive work by the staff, a total of 4,480,700 yuan was collected from counterfeit currency, which has now been fully transferred to the People's Bank of Dongshan County Branch for storage.

On August 7, the police also received a report that the fishermen in Aojiao Village and Gongqian Village had a large amount of RMB in the waters, which was about 2 million yuan.

At present, the newly seized counterfeit money has been sealed and the case is under further investigation.
