Earlier, it was reported that Samsung may turn to external battery suppliers (even its competitor LG Chem) due to the overheating or explosion of the Galaxy Note 7 battery. However, according to the Korean website MK, SDI, one of the Galaxy Note 7 battery suppliers, does not need to be overheated. If the findings are as stated (Samsung plans to be released between January 10 and the end of the month), then we suspect that SDI is still expected to continue to supply batteries for the Galaxy S8.
After the first recall of the Galaxy Note 7 (replacement of the SDI battery with the ATL supply), SDI promised to be the "safety first" company. However, at the time, Samsung pointed out that ATL was not responsible for the subsequent battery fires that still occurred.
The report pointed out that SDI has set a contract to supply batteries for several Samsung mobile phones, including the recently released Galaxy A (2017) and the upcoming Galaxy S8.
SDI said in a statement that the Galaxy S8 will have the company's battery built in. The MK website also said that the subsidiary will undertake a 65% battery supply task for Samsung's 2017 high-end smartphones.
Of course, Samsung is also negotiating with other battery suppliers, including LG Chem and Japan TDK.
