According to Reuters, Nissan announced that the five major factories in Japan will resume production from Tuesday onwards, following the Japanese Ministry of Transportation's agreement that Nissan will correct improper production and issue a recall.
After it was discovered that non-professional technicians participated in the last inspection process of automobile production in the past two decades, Nissan announced from October 19 that production of all passenger car factories in Japan would be suspended. The case also led Nissan to recall 1.2 million cars for re-inspection, including all passenger cars produced and sold in Japan in the past three years.
Nissan said on Monday that the factories in Fukuoka, Kanagawa and Tochigi will resume production, as well as the Nissan subsidiary Nissan Body Group's factories in Fukuoka and Kanagawa.
In addition, the factory operated by the subsidiary Kyoto Auto Works is currently waiting for government approval.
Nissan stated in its submission to government agencies that it has corrected misconduct in its plant operations and production activities and expects to take measures to train inspectors and upgrade inspection procedures. The Japanese Ministry of Communications requires inspectors with qualification certificates to be responsible for the inspection of automobiles sold in Japan, but this does not include vehicles sold overseas.
