There are three major automobile brands in Beijing: Beijing Hyundai, Beijing Foton and Beijing Benz. Hundreds of auto parts companies gather around these three brands, one from Changping to Huairou, Miyun, Pinggu, Shunyi, then Tongzhou, Yizhuang and Daxing. Fangshan's curved car industry belt is forming on the outskirts of Beijing.

The automobile industry is becoming the driving force behind the regional economic growth while it is gathering in the region and moving toward the development of clustering.

Around the three brand layout

According to the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" of Beijing's auto industry, Beijing's vehicle production is centered on Shunyi, Yizhuang, Huairou and Changping where Beijing Hyundai, Beiqi Foton and Beijing Benz production bases are located, and parts manufacturers are located in Daxing, Shunyi and Changping. Yixian, Pinggu, Huairou, Miyun, Tongzhou, Fangshan and other districts and counties that are adjacent to the vehicle production center are located in the industrial development zone.

Currently, the three major brands of Beijing Hyundai Motors, Beiqi Foton Motors and Beijing Mercedes-Benz Co., Ltd. in Shunyi, Changping, and Huairou have achieved a prominent effect. The automobile industry has become a pillar industry in these three regions and plays an increasingly important role in stimulating regional economic growth. .

At present, Shunyi District has two complete vehicle companies, Beijing Hyundai Motor Co., Ltd. and Beijing Automotive Manufacturing Plant Co., Ltd., as well as 59 supporting enterprises such as automobile modules, automobile steel, automobile tires, etc. More than 30, in addition, there are 85 car sales companies. A car industry chain covering automobile headquarters, R&D, production, logistics, and sales has been formed, and industrial clusters have begun to take shape. The rapid development of the automobile manufacturing industry has led to the vigorous development of the automobile related service industry. According to the estimation of Shunyi Industry Bureau, the auto service trade industry will bring at least 40 billion yuan in sales revenue and nearly 10,000 people's labor demand in Shunyi, and it will also bring huge flow of people, logistics, information flow and capital flow.

Huairou District has given huge support to the automobile industry in terms of funds, land, and policies. The Beiqi Futian Company Ouma and Auman, two automobile factories in Huairou, have quickly embarked on a healthy development path. As of the end of 2008, Beiqi Foton Huairou Plant has produced 658,000 medium and high-end light trucks and medium- and heavy-duty trucks. Among them, in 2008 sales of 94,800 units, sales revenue of 13 billion yuan, accounting for 42.4% of Huairou District industrial sales revenue.

The stable development of Foton Motor has driven the development of the automobile industry chain in Huairou District. In 2008, there were a total of 52 auto and accessories companies in the district, employing 8,605 employees; achieving a total automobile output value of 15.45 billion yuan and sales revenue of 15.89 billion yuan. The automobile and accessories industry has become an important industry leading Huairou's economic growth.

At present, among the large-scale industrial enterprises in Changping District, there are 26 enterprises related to the automobile industry with a total output value of 18.4 billion yuan. In 2008, the development of the Beiqi Futian Changping Plant was strong. On March 26th, the first Sino-foreign joint venture of Foton Motor Co., Ltd., Beijing Foton Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. was established with a total investment of over 2.7 billion yuan and a planned production capacity of 400,000 units. Upon completion, it will become the world's largest light diesel engine production base. With the existing production capacity, Foton will have an annual production capacity of 500,000 engines in the Beijing area, which will lay the foundation for the entry of high-end products of Foton into the markets of developed countries.

Radiated around the formation of industrial belt

The rapid growth of Beijing Hyundai, Beiqi Foton and Beijing Benz has also had a strong radiation effect in the surrounding districts and counties.

From Changping to Huairou, Miyun, Pinggu and Shunyi, to Tongzhou, Yizhuang, Daxing, and Fangshan, a semi-annular automobile industry belt from north to east and then northeast to southeast is being formed on the suburbs of Beijing.

Since the first Korean-owned auto parts company, Xingyu Vehicle Technology Co., Ltd. formally laid the foundation on October 18, 2003, Xingyu, Rijin, Hexin, and Chengcheng R&A and Hanyi have been established for several years. More than 20 auto parts companies such as Ricoh Chemicals and Dacheng entered the Pinggu Xinggu Development Zone. Xinggu Development Zone has become Beijing's largest Beijing Hyundai Motor parts production base. Among them, Xingyu Motor Company's economic indicators in 2008 reached a record high, with a total output value of 1.433 billion yuan, making Pinggu District the only company with an output value of over 1 billion yuan. At the same time, it paid taxes of 89.97 million yuan and ranked first in taxation for enterprises in the region. In 2008, Xinggu Development Zone achieved an output value of 7.4 billion yuan, which contributed to the auto parts industry.

Tongzhou District has 18 foreign-invested auto parts enterprises, accounting for 4% of the total number of foreign-invested enterprises; the total investment is US$300 million, accounting for 15% of the total foreign investment. In 2007, these 18 companies realized sales revenue of 2.1 billion yuan, accounting for 9% of the total sales revenue of foreign-invested enterprises; taxation 120 million yuan, accounting for 11% of the total amount of foreign-invested enterprises; total profit of 84.68 million yuan, accounting for foreign investment 20% of total corporate profits. Among them, the Korean-owned Beijing Mobis Transmission Co., Ltd. has a sales income of over 1 billion yuan and a tax payment of 3,489.33 million yuan.

Driven by Beiqi Foton and Beijing Hyundai, Miyun’s auto parts industry has also seen rapid development. At present, Miyun has a total of 23 auto parts production enterprises. In 2008, the output value was 2.95 billion yuan. What is even more gratifying is that after December 5, 2008, after Zhongda Company rolled off the first large-scale wagon produced in Miyun, a few days ago, Beijing Starway Wagon and Beijing Yuanyuan Group reached a cooperation intention in Miyun. The company is engaged in the production of large, medium and small passenger cars and vehicle refitting at the Taishi Tunzhen Automobile Production Base in Miyun and plans to produce 1,000 cars this year. The partners plan to invest 500 million yuan to build the second-phase automobile production base that will take shape in the next 3 years, and build about 20 auxiliary plants to produce more than 10,000 cars each year.

At present, Fangshan District has five auto parts companies, including Beijing First Tire, Beijing-funded Yanjing Auto, Beijing-Jinhuan Automotive Brake Pump, Beijing Taiyu Automobile Motor Manufacturing and Beijing Zhonghe Auto Parts. Among them, the "Jinglun" brand radial tires whose first tires were produced by the technology of Italian Pirelli have been evaluated as Beijing famous brand products for 4 consecutive times. In 2008, the first tire achieved an output value of 360 million yuan and sales revenue of 390 million yuan.

In addition, the production base for mining and spare parts at the Beijing Automobile Production Base in Caiyu Town, Daxing District is being stepped up. The mining and car spare parts base jointly developed and constructed by Beiqi Holding Co., Ltd. and Caiyu Development Zone has completed the contracting and project-related planning and design of five parts and components such as Jiangnan Molding and Delphi Air Conditioning.

Clustering trends are beginning to emerge

Although the auto industry has been hit by the global financial crisis, there is good news in the Beijing auto industry:

On December 29, 2008, Beijing New Energy Automobile Design and Manufacturing Industrial Engineering Base was listed at Beiqi Futian Shahe Plant, and Beijing New Energy Automobile Industry Alliance was announced at the same time;

In January of this year, Beijing’s Hyundai’s retrograde was in full swing, setting a record for monthly sales of 35,000 vehicles;

On January 29, the six-year marathon joint venture agreement between Beiqi Foton and Daimler was settled and the two sides signed the "Commercial Vehicle Cooperation Agreement." An automobile production base with a total investment of more than RMB 6 billion will be put into operation in Huairou District, Beijing within the year.

It is understood that Beiqi Foton and Daimler will jointly establish a joint venture company in Huairou with a 50:50 ratio. The new joint venture company will also become a global cooperative business operation center integrating management, decision making, R&D, production, supply chain management, and marketing management functions. According to the agreement, the joint venture company will introduce Mercedes-Benz technology to produce Futian Auman brand heavy truck products and Mercedes-Benz heavy truck engines that meet the Euro V emission standards. The company will also set up a research and development center for the joint venture company. While retaining Auman's own brand, it will use Daimler's advanced R&D technology and global operating resources to realize the global leapfrog development of Foton's automotive products. Cooperation broke the old model of multinational auto companies setting up only assembly plants in China, and created a Sino-foreign cooperation between China and foreign countries as their operating centers, giving full play to their respective advantages and jointly creating a precedent for Chinese auto brands. This will add a heavy weight to the clustering development of the Beijing auto industry.

At present, the development of industrial clusters has become a global development trend. Industrial clusters, as a kind of industrial space organization formed to create competitive advantages, have the advantage of group competition and the scale benefits of agglomeration development.

Zhao Hong, director of the Institute of Economic Research at the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences, believes that the automobile industry is a capital-intensive, economies of scale, and brand-dependent industry. The development of clustering in the automotive industry is a major trend.

Zhao Hong said that the automobile industry in Beijing is beginning to take shape, and it has already begun its path to cluster development. However, the automotive industry is also facing a lack of high-end links and weak capacity for independent innovation; the ability to manufacture parts and components is relatively weak, and the core parts and components depend on imports; the supporting enterprises are mainly foreign-funded, the participation of local companies is not high, and the scale of core enterprises is small. problem. To solve these problems, it is necessary to improve the industrial chain of co-manufacturing of complete vehicles and parts, extend the industrial chain of automobile industry clusters, and focus on the development of supporting service industries. In particular, it is necessary to break the boundaries of administrative divisions and form the development trend of “big Beijing” clusters in the automotive industry.
