Minister Wan Gang stated that since its establishment in 2009, CERC has been highly valued by the heads of state of the two countries and has created a new model of Sino-U.S. cooperation in science and technology. It is a pragmatic cooperation between the two sides to jointly meet the challenges. The energy efficiency of medium-load and heavy-duty trucks was formally listed as the CERC cooperation field in 2016. The two sides have established an industry-university research-and-research alliance to steadily advance related work. It is hoped that Cummins will play an impetus role in the alliance and actively cooperate with relevant Chinese units through joint research, personnel exchanges and other means to make due contributions to saving energy and reducing emissions and meeting the challenge of climate change.
Lan Bowen introduced the progress of Cummins' engine research and development and new technologies for commercial vehicles in China. He expressed willingness to conduct mutually beneficial cooperation with Chinese companies and scientific research institutions in related fields. Rambourne spoke highly of the CERC cooperation mechanism and stated that Cummins is willing to play its due role in the truck alliance and help the two countries make common progress in this area.
The Deputy Director of the Department of High-tech Development and Industrialization of the Ministry of Science and Technology continued the pre-recession and the deputy director of the International Cooperation Department Zhu Xuehua attended the meeting. Steve Chapman, Group Vice President of Cummins’ China and Russia operations, also attended the meeting.
