Energy-saving and new energy vehicles have become the focus of attention. The most urgent task is the need for a new round of emission standards and new energy sources. Breakthrough in automotive core technology. In the field of new energy vehicles, what are the most effective events we have conducted, what are the difficulties in the innovation process, and what are the development trends in the future?
On June 16th, at the China World Hotel in Beijing, the “2012 Global Energy Conservation and New Energy Vehicle Summit†was held by Huel Pang, Vice President of Weichai Power, to teach students what to do.
I would like to stand in two perspectives. One is from the point of view of the industry, from the point of view of the industry of commercial vehicles and new energy sources, how do we carry out industrial technological innovation. In the second aspect, as an alliance and the industry leader, Weichai Power, we introduce our innovative work.
Mainly speaking four aspects, first of all, China's commercial vehicle power industry has made a tremendous contribution to China's economic development. This point is not always fully understood. The second item, to talk about us in the industry, now we all know that the curve overtaking is not enough, how do we carry out endogenous growth, independent innovation of this industrial technology development work. The third item describes our understanding of the modern market and our choice of technology. The fourth item is also a new product WA20 that introduces Weichai Power.
First of all, let's look at the two years of 2010 and 2011, Weichai Power sold 1.16 million heavy-duty engines and 1.55 million gearboxes. Fast is the 50% holding company of Weichai Power. With 1.16 million engines, its fuel consumption may be more than our 10 million passenger vehicles. Therefore, in this perspective, the commercial vehicle industry is very significant in terms of energy conservation and emission reduction. We showed Weichai's engine and gearbox and formed a powertrain. Why did it make a significant contribution to the economic development of our country? If we do not have domestically produced companies, the development of all aspects of Chinese highways will be very different. On the other hand, as a state-owned enterprise, we promoted the application of the National 3rd and 4th products in the market. At present we actively promote new energy gas engines. We have just released HPDI, which is the direct injection technology in cylinders, which can be used on LNG. Application makes a big promotion, in the customer's use cost, on the country's energy conservation and emission reduction has a great significance. Therefore, local companies are the main force of commercial vehicle power and have made great contributions to national energy-saving and emission reduction.
The second aspect is how we respond to the country's call for energy conservation and emission reduction and independent innovation. With the approval of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Weichai spearheaded the establishment of a strategic alliance for the technological innovation of new energy and power systems for commercial vehicles and construction machinery. The left ones are leading large enterprises. The middle row is highly research-oriented and technological. Including Professor Yin's three vertical and three horizontal, electronic control, battery, and motor technology companies. The third row on the right is our school, five domestic universities, Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing University of Science and Technology, Jilin University of Changchun, Tongji University in Shanghai, and our Shandong University, a production and research alliance. The purpose of our alliance is to build a high-energy, low-carbon, energy-saving, emission-reducing, and high-efficiency industrial chain driven by new energy. Our core task is to promote the cooperation among government officials, industry, universities, research institutes, and endogenous growth and independent innovation. The first item of our work is to study the combat team as a powertrain commonality and key technology and major issues. We have undertaken two hybrids of the National Science and Technology Support Program, one is a commercial vehicle, a sanitation vehicle and the other is a bulldozer. The second task is to assist in the establishment of standards and standards for key technologies, and the development and verification of common technologies. Such an approach is to improve the quality of our products. The second is to reduce the threshold for entry into industrialization. If we have standards, small companies can easily join this industry chain if they want to meet this standard. The third item is to assist the government in formulating long-term plans. We have not done enough in this respect. We are making active efforts. The policies we proposed, including the three vertical and three horizontal policies proposed by Professor Yin, lack the powertrain. We chop firewood to represent the power of commercial vehicles. As we all know, the innovation work is mainly our development team. Recently, I visited the United States and visited such companies as Cummins and IWC, including Eaton. We saw their laboratories, production equipment and products. With 4,000 Cummins R&D teams, we went to visit the lab again. These R&D teams can't see it out there. What about independent innovation? We combine some foreign development models. For example, we have concentrated the main forces of production, research, and research into each unit, such as the first structural optimization and conceptual design. We put the best resources in the alliance. They all undertook the 863 project and represented the advanced level of the country. We put him together to set up a development team. We have dozens of development teams, grouped by corresponding development teams such as Say that in the mechanical system to establish a management team, through this model, we can put the advantages of each unit to play. For example, to optimize the platform, we started Weichai Power without this platform. By cooperating with five other universities and other organizations, they all represented advanced levels in this area. The platform we now develop is based on at least five universities. On behalf of the domestic advanced level, we have made an improvement. Our 166 kinds of programs have been optimized and upgraded, and the simulation design has exceeded 300 hours, so that our overall actual fuel economy performance can reach the domestic advanced level.
The third item would like to introduce our market understanding and the choice of technology. The development trend of commercial vehicles, we believe that these characteristics of the market, not only for new energy. The first item is low-carbon cleaning. All of us are well aware of the need for high reliability, strong power, comfort, economy, lightweight, intelligent control, and safety. We all know the significance of energy conservation and emission reduction. Why? Low carbon? The international greenhouse effect is mainly based on the current development of the world. By 2050, the atmospheric content of carbon dioxide will reach 1,000 ppm, and the global temperature will increase by nearly 6 degrees. This will cause great trouble to the forest fire. The world’s target is that carbon dioxide be close to 450ppm, and the global temperature will increase by no more than 2 degrees.
In China, the carbon emissions of electric vehicles are higher than those of hybrid vehicles. Why do you say so? This picture shows that currently in China, we produce 370 grams of carbon dioxide per megawatt of emissions. The same is true in the United Kingdom and in California. In the end, this green fuel machine has far lower carbon emissions than power generation. So, in this respect, diesel hybrids in China have lower carbon emissions than electric vehicles.
Looking at the market situation and technology, we chose the technical route. For the commercial vehicle market as the ordinate, we chose the electric power. The lower left corner is the traditional powertrain, and the topmost one is the electric vehicle. Electric power. The rightmost corner represents energy storage. On the far right side is that electric vehicles have large energy storage units. In the deeper direction, we have a variety of fuels, including diesel, hydrogen, and electricity. In terms of the choice of technical route, we choose an ordinate of 30% and it can recover more energy. But on the abscissa, we have chosen less electricity, and our batteries have been reduced by less than 50% compared to pure electric commercial vehicles. When we were on the vertical axis, we chose to have diesel and there was natural gas on the market. We mainly promote the production of diesel or natural gas, but of course we can also use it as a plug-in technology.
Therefore, based on such an option, Weichai Power also introduced the WN20 powertrain. This powertrain can be either hybrid or plug-in, depending on how much of our energy is deployed and whether there are charging devices.
It has four characteristics. The first, that is to say, a serialized design, electric hybrid 4-12L diesel can be installed in this car. The 5- to 6-speed hybrid automatic transmission system can also be mounted on this vehicle. Therefore, in terms of emissions, we are also cleaner. Compared with traditional cars, our carbon emissions can be reduced by 80 tons in the life cycle of this car, which can reach the national 4th and 5th national emission levels. It's known for its hybrid features, which have a purely electric function at low speeds and can reduce the engine. As we all know, cars do not need full power most of the time. When starting and stopping, we can select engines. Engine measures can be optimized. Retarders are required on buses and cars.
The second is economic efficiency. If natural gas is used in a life cycle, it can save 700,000 yuan in fuel costs. Based on the country’s existing policies, state subsidies can offset the increase in costs, that is, without relying on state subsidies, we can also survive.
The third item is a big feature. Weichai, as an all-around powertrain supplier, can provide a full range of services, not to mention the services of electric motors and batteries. Our entire powertrain, Chengdu, can provide warranty. As mentioned above, there are great requirements on the reliability of users, so we can guarantee that these services will be provided on the powertrain. The reason why we can do this is because of our leading position in the industry, we have an annual output of 500,000 engines, and the transmission has been ranked first in the world for seven consecutive years, leading the technology. Although we have not introduced successive products, in fact, We are the leader of the enterprise alliance and have undertaken a number of science and technology support projects and 863 projects.
With these four characteristics, we believe that this product will become a large-scale mainstream product in our commercial vehicle industry.
To sum up briefly, China's commercial vehicle as an OEM of the power system is a major force for China's economic development. In terms of internal growth and independent innovation in the industry, we have done a lot of work through the alliance of companies. We believe that hybrid technology is also a preferred technology for commercial vehicles. In the fourth item, I introduced the WN20 as a powertrain. Just in cooperation with Prof. Yin, we introduced this new energy product as a platform and an assembly unit instead of a spare part or One technology.
