In the metal ore beneficiation industry, a gravel mill is used in order to save the metal medium. In this case, a nugget having a particle size of 40 to 80 mm is generally used as a medium. The gravel mill is generally used as a second stage mill after the rod mill or the self-grinding mill.
The gravel mill is basically the same in structure as the ball mill , but because the density of the medium used is smaller than that of the metal ball, the yield per unit volume is low. In addition, the gravel mill adopts the lattice type instead of the overflow type. The reason is that the ore surface is low when the grid is discharged, which can fully exert the impact of the medium; the mine discharge is fast, the over-grinding phenomenon can be reduced; When the amount of medium changes, the ore discharge is balanced and no large ore is poured out.
The medium filling rate of the gravel mill is slightly higher than that of the ball mill, and the consumption is also large. The grinding concentration should be lower than that of the ball mill, and the grinding machine speed is higher, and the rotation speed is 80%~90%.
Generally, the lattice type ball mill can also be used as a gravel mill, and the gravel mill is rarely used in the beneficiation industry. Therefore, there are few manufacturers of gravel mills, and only one weight is currently produced, and only two specifications are available. The gravel mill produced by the plant and its technical performance are listed in Table 1, and the external dimensions are shown in Figure and Table 2.
