Among them, the production and sales of passenger cars completed 1,269,100 and 128,190, respectively, which represented a year-on-year increase of 21.6% and 22.6%, which was higher than the overall growth rate of automobiles. Commercial vehicles remained sluggish, with only 301,800 vehicles and 325,300 vehicles completed. At the same time, the market share of self-owned brand passenger cars also fell by 3.3 percentage points. "The data shows that the market competition pressure for self-owned brand passenger cars is gradually increasing." Zhu Yiping, Assistant Secretary General of China Automobile, said that the German cars performed most prominently in the first five months and the growth rate was close to 20%; and the development momentum is strong. The Japanese cars also increased by more than 10% year-on-year.

Statistics show that from January to May, automobile production and sales amounted to 8,003,000 vehicles and 8,023,500 vehicles, an increase of 3.2% and 1.7% respectively from the same period of the previous year. Both sales and sales have seen positive growth for the first time during the year. At the same time, sales of small-displacement cars with 1.6 liters or less achieved 3.0624 million vehicles in the first half of May, a year-on-year increase of 3.4%, which is also the first positive increase since this year.
