On October 18, entrusted by the National Energy Administration, China Machinery Industry Federation completed the prototype appraisal of Shanghai Nuclear Industry Institute's participation in the development of the “CAP1400 factory-use water pump†in Changsha. The appraisal committee chaired by Academician Ye Qirong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, listened to reports on development requirements and research and development. After consulting relevant documents and data, after inspecting the production test site and prototypes, they unanimously believed that the CAP1400 factory water pump prototype was successfully developed. Technical indicators have reached the international advanced level, can be applied to CAP1400 nuclear power projects and follow-up CAP1000 nuclear power projects, with good social and economic benefits.
Plant water pump is an important equipment of nuclear power plant, its main function is to provide cooling water for the equipment cooling water system. In order to overcome technical difficulties such as long-axis stability, seawater corrosion resistance, and sediment erosion resistance, the localization of CAP1400 factory water pumps has been realized, and relying on major projects, Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Institute and Hunan Xiangdian Changsha Pump Co., Ltd. have initiated joint development work. The successfully developed CAP1400 plant water pump prototype has the characteristics of stable, reliable and reasonable structure, high pump reliability, good usability, and excellent maintainability, which indicates that the domestic nuclear power equipment's independent R&D capability has been upgraded again.
