Compared with the same period of last year, Beijing Sanitation Group's scope of operations added Tongzhou District, Hepingi District. According to statistics, from 8 am on January 27 (New Year's Eve) to 8 am on February 3 (Xinhua), Beijing Sanitation Group cleared 539.1 tons of fireworks and scraps for road cleaning and cleaning and environmental protection in key areas. Among them, 179.5 tons was cleared during the night of New Year's Eve.
During the Spring Festival this year, most citizens responded positively to the government’s initiative to not let off fireworks or firecrackers and try to avoid air pollution caused by this. Among them, the volume of fireworks and firecrackers in the major urban arterial roads and important areas within the scope of responsibility of the Beijing Sanitation Group was 49.9 tons, a decrease of 10% compared with the same period of last year.
In order to prevent fire accidents caused by fireworks and debris and environmental pollution caused by wind blowing, the sanitation group adopts a road-sweeping cleaning method and is equipped with a certain number of sprinkling trucks to carry out wet operations on cleaned firecrackers and scraps at any time. Due to proper measures, no safety accidents occurred in the removal and disposal of refuse, such as fireworks and firecrackers, and no fires occurred around the key facilities and important road sections where the humidification operation was carried out.
During the Spring Festival, Beijing Sanitation Group also dispatched more than 200 pure electric sanitation vehicles to road cleaning, garbage collection and transshipment operations, and truly achieved zero emissions and zero pollution in sanitation operations. At the same time, with the favorable opportunity to reduce the flow of traffic during the Spring Festival period than usual, the Sanitation Group increased the intensity and frequency of road cleaning and cleaning at the Yingbin Line and the main ring road of Chang’an Street, and appropriately reduced the speed of sweeping and cleaning vehicles to improve suction sweeping. The effect is to remove ground pollutants more effectively. During the high temperature period, the number of trips for washing and scouring operations was increased, effectively reducing the amount of dust remaining and suppressing dust pollution.
