EU will issue battery capacity label

Recently, the European Union Council passed a draft of a battery capacity tag. Once approved by the European Parliament, the access threshold for portable batteries, car batteries, and batteries will be greatly increased, which will be far-reaching for manufacturers of batteries and power supply products.

The draft requires that the label be clearly stated in accordance with the International Electrotechnical Standards and must be stated in a fixed size and position. The unit of capacity measurement is "Ah" (Ah) or "mAh" (mAh). Among them, the portable battery and the battery capacity level will be shown in the specified digital pattern, and the criteria for using the digital pattern will depend on the battery or the material in the battery and its use. For automotive batteries and batteries, the content of the capacity tag includes the capacity level and cold start performance.

The draft stipulates a grace period of 18 months. After 18 months, portable batteries, car batteries and batteries put on the market will be formally accepted under the regulations. The inspection and quarantine department discovered during the work that the battery outlet still had problems such as non-standard label size and location, and the battery was not labeled with a capacity level. In the export, the labeling issue has become another problem after the battery has passed environmental protection.

In order to maintain a good momentum of development, experts from the inspection and quarantine department pointed out that the details of the battery labeling should not be underestimated. Domestic battery manufacturers should take the introduction of the draft as a turning point to address the following three aspects: First, establish the standardization of battery production. System, to improve the level of equipment and facilities; Second, the battery should be attached to a prominent position in the label, at the same time should pay attention to the content of the information listed on the label, the design of the label should meet specific requirements, so that consumers can understand the battery performance capacity; Third, battery manufacturers should actively make up for the weakness of export enterprises in preparation for market changes, increase their focus on foreign battery trade measures and market sensitivity, and timely adjust export structure and production direction according to changes in foreign target markets.
