According to US media reports, today's tires come in many types, including winter tires, performance tires, and all-season tires, but a relatively new type of tire that can improve fuel efficiency is now very strong, especially in Europe. The price of fuel in the region is more than twice that of the United States.

Such low rolling resistance tires are increasingly being called " green tires ." Industry insiders predict that such tires will have a market penetration rate of 20%-30% in Europe before 2017, and 70%-80% before 2022.

It is understood that low rolling resistance tires have become very common in some American models that emphasize fuel efficiency, such as hybrid-electric vehicles and battery electric vehicles. This type of tire can generally reduce the fuel consumption of the car by 5%-7%, and it is the fastest growing field in the global tire market. However, in the case of slippery and unstable road surfaces, such tires may cause the vehicle to have a reduced durability and braking performance.

It is reported that professional chemical product supplier LANXESS Germany is demonstrating a prototype tire. The company said that this prototype tire can eliminate the weakening of vehicle durability and brake system by providing low fuel-efficient rolling resistance and grip on wet surfaces.

LANXESS's AAConcept tires are the first double-A rated tires awarded under the latest European tire labeling regulations. The new labeling regulations will begin in November this year. According to this mandatory labeling requirement, they are rated by A to G according to the difference in tire fuel efficiency and wetland grip. The latest regulations are designed to provide consumers with more information on the value of fuel-efficient tires. Similar regulations in South Korea will be finalized in December this year. Similar US regulations are expected to be born in 2014.

LANXESS stated that this concept tire uses several proprietary LANXESS materials and its purpose is to demonstrate to tire manufacturers and consumers the benefits of its advanced technology. The current low rolling resistance tires have adopted some advanced materials from this supplier, but this prototype tire has taken another step forward in tire technology.

In addition, although this energy-saving tire is more costly, Lanxess said that this tire can pay off in less than two years of driving time.
