It is reported that the new model equipped with this technology is the Kalmar electric terminal tractor (KT2E) model, which will be launched in 2020.

Kalmar is an industry pioneer in terminal automation and energy efficient container handling, providing the widest range of cargo handling solutions and services for ports, terminals, distribution centers and heavy industries. As early as 2018, it launched the pure electric terminal tractor Kalmar Ottawa (OT2E) in the United States.

It is reported that Cummins will provide Kalmar with powertrain technology including battery. This traditional power system solution eliminates the need to install a gearbox on the end tractor, which simplifies the system and reduces maintenance requirements.

It is understood that Cummins Power Solutions will provide a set of 107 kWh lithium-ion batteries for Kalmar electric terminal tractors, and support DC fast charging technology, operators can use the opportunity to charge during shift shifts. At the same time, in order to maintain battery life, its thermal management system stabilizes the battery within the optimum temperature range, allowing the machine to operate in a variety of climatic conditions.
