High aluminum brown iron ore is a kind of typical complex refractory ore in our country Guangxi and Southeast Asian countries have large reserves adjoining, because of its high Al2O3 content, if as a direct ironmaking raw materials, will lead slag flow Poor sex, reduced desulfurization capacity, increased coke ratio, and difficulty in blast furnace operation. However, limonite is rich in reserves and relatively inexpensive, and it is still a relatively important iron ore resource.

In order to effectively reduce the content of Al2O3 in limonite, research on the separation of aluminum and iron in high aluminite is carried out at home and abroad, and three typical processes have been basically formed:

1) After the first selection, after smelting, the high-grade aluminum concentrate and iron concentrate are selected by physical beneficiation method, and then aluminum and iron are extracted from the respective concentrates. This method is suitable for the treatment of aluminum-containing iron ore with simple structure. For the complex relationship between aluminum and iron inlay, the ore with poor dissociation performance of the monomer is not obvious;

2) First aluminum after iron, Lang Bayer method for the dissolution of aluminum-red mud recovery iron process, the process requires high effective alumina (AAl2O3) / active silica (RSiO2), while the economic benefits of red mud recovery iron is difficult to guarantee;

3) First iron after the aluminum, that is, blast furnace or electric furnace smelting - slag leaching and aluminum extraction process, the process can effectively achieve the separation of aluminum and iron, but there are problems such as high energy consumption, difficulty in slag formation, and difficulty in dissolution of slag.

It can be seen that due to the complex mineral inclusion relationship in the high-aluminum limonite ore, there is currently no systematic study, so it has not been reasonably and effectively utilized, and basically belongs to the stagnant mineral resources.
